Development Donor Relations and Stewardship Intern

POSITION TITLE/DEPARTMENT: Development Donor Relations and Stewardship Intern   

CLASSIFICATION/GRADE: Part-time, Non-Exempt, Temporary (12 weeks)

SALARY RANGE: 24 hours per week, $16.50 per hour   

 

GENERAL SUMMARY As an established and respected organization, the DIA is an excellent place for interns to explore interests in museums and non-profits. Beyond learning about the art collections, interns are able to contribute to everything that helps the museum run smoothly. Interns will work under the guidance and supervision of a DIA professional on a specific project with established learning outcomes.   

 

The Development Intern will gain an understanding of philanthropy, how it impacts the DIA, and how the development team recognizes and stewards donors. The intern will work this summer with a focus on supporting the critical work of the Donor Relations and Stewardship team. 

 

Projects and Tasks Include:

  • Coordinate the execution of exhibition sponsors benefits including communicating, planning, and finalizing sponsors donor tours.  
  • Maintain the electronic system for tracking donor acknowledgement outreach to donors in Raisers Edge (donor database).  
  • Assist in various projects related to inventorying and updating multiple donor recognition walls and signage within the museum. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

Successful candidates must be studying at an undergraduate junior level or above in one of the following fields of study at an accredited college or university: philanthropy, communications, marketing, business, non-profit or non-governmental organizations, or related fields.   

Candidates must possess strong organizational skills, written and verbal communication skills, work independently, focus on attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.   

Proficiency in the latest version of Office 365, including SharePoint, Teams, Word, Power Point, Outlook, and Excel is required.  

 

This internship is blended and will include on site and virtual work.   
  

DIA Internship experiences have the following preferences:   

  • Candidates from Wayne, Oakland, or Macomb Counties. 
  • Will be given to those who have not had an internship at the DIA.
